This work is a feminist piece encouraging women to travel alone. I have met so many women who are afraid to travel without their husbands, etc. Yes, there is a risk to this, but I don’t know if there is a price you can put on discovering the beauty of traveling abroad.
I have met so many beautiful people, tried different foods, danced, ended up in random places, and gotten to know different customs and mannerisms outside “the American way.”
Traveling broadened my horizons, opened my heart, and I don’t think I will ever stop wanting to explore the world now that I have had a taste of it. It saddens me to think that some people may never get to experience this sense of empowerment and all the knowledge that comes with it.
This collage was part of an art proposal I spent a month working on for an opportunity at LAX Airport. Actually, I don’t know if you could call it “rejected,” because apparently my paperwork wasn’t correct, and I didn’t even make it to the judging process.
I had to hire a lawyer online and purchase an affidavit. I painted an intricate proposal, signed all sorts of ridiculous paperwork, etc., etc.
It was an experience and good practice for future large-scale opportunities.
